I saw the thunderstorm approaching from the sea in the afternoon.

After picking my daughter up from school, I took my camera and tripod and climbed to the highest mountain in the area to get a better view of the approaching thunderstorm.
I set the shutter speed to 2 seconds. The fact that I was shooting continuously and the lightning strike landed in the photo during the exposure was pure luck. My job was simply to control the detail in the photo and compose it appropriately.
