Среди прочих методов охоты пустельга практикует охоту с присады, т.е. высматривает добычу, которой обычно являются мыши-полевки, сидя на высоких объектах с хорошим обзором. Острота зрения обыкновенной пустельги столь высока, что человек с таким зрением мог бы прочитать всю таблицу для проверки зрения с расстояния 90 метров.
