Bit of back scratch

In this charming close-up by Maria Kula, a delicate harvest mouse is captured mid-action while perched on a tree branch adorned with pale green lichen. The small rodent stretches upward, using its front paws to reach toward its back in what appears to be an attempt to scratch an itch. Its soft brown and white fur contrasts gently with the textured bark, highlighting the intricate details of both the animal and its natural environment. This image offers a rare glimpse into the everyday moments of one of nature’s smallest creatures.
