The bolt makes the shot. I was watching some storms (very active with lightning) move towards the backyard canyons last week. I shot this handheld by just keeping the camera held to my eye and shooting when I saw lightning (1/140s exposure). That actually does work sometimes, but it better be an active storm! - northeast New Mexico, USA
