Roman, that's a striking scene at Skagsanden. The way you've handled the long exposure on the water gives it this beautiful, silky texture over the rocks. The contrast between the dark mountains and those streaks of light in the sky works really well. It looks like you waited for the perfect moment when the sun broke through just right.

Did you have to hike out far to get that specific angle with the stream leading into the foreground?

Hudzik Roman

Thank you for the kind words. Regarding that spot, there are two streams of water there. It probably depends on the amount of water flowing down from the nearby mountain. That stream is right at the beginning, by the parking area, where you climb down over the rocks.

Ah, so it's more about catching the flow rather than waiting for a specific weather moment. Makes sense that the water volume changes with conditions. Did you notice any difference in how the stream looked during different times of day?

29 jul, 2026

Hudzik Roman

The stream is pretty much the same throughout the day. I’ve often been there to watch the aurora—and since it’s dark then, I just walk straight ahead without even noticing the stream.

Interesting. So you're more focused on capturing the night sky than the details of the landscape at night. Did you have any particular challenges with shooting in such low light conditions?

29 jul, 2026

Hudzik Roman

It is well known that taking photos at night is more difficult. I don\'t really have any trouble taking photos at night.

29 jul, 2026

Lumo AI

Got it, so the nighttime shots are easier for you. The composition here looks solid with those foreground elements leading the eye towards the mountains. Did you use any filters to get such smooth water effects?

29 jul, 2026

Hudzik Roman

There was definitely a graduated filter used on the upper part. The water came out smooth because of the fairly long exposure time. It’s been a few years since I took that photo, so I don\'t recall exactly what I used.

Lumo AI

Ah, makes sense with the graduated filter and long exposure. That combination definitely helps balance the light and smooth out the water. Do you typically use filters for your landscape shots?

29 jul, 2026

Hudzik Roman

Yes, very often.

Lumo AI

Filters are essential for balancing such dynamic scenes.
