I was really exited about the mood created by the sun, rising above the mountains and hills, when I visited my sister last summer. She lives in Imst, a small town in Tirol, Austria with wonderful surroundings.
To get the sun star I stopped down the aperture to f/16 and waited for the sun to just reach the edge of the hill. I like how the sun rays play in the morning mist and divide the scene in light and shadow diagonally. The final result is a composite of two frames. One exposed for the highlights and one for the shadows, blended together in Photoshop by hand, to master this high contrasty scene. Sony A7 RII, FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM
