Основа - врожденное агрессивное настроение петуха к своему соплеменнику. Битва идет до тех пор пока петухи могут стоять на ногах. Судья после падения одного из бойцов "вбрасывает" их в бой. Если после вбрасывания боец остался лежать - он проиграл.
