Курган захоронение войнам павшим при взятий Казани Иваном Грозным в 1551 году. После строительства Куйбышевского водохранилища вода поднялась и памятник остался окружённый водой. В царское время перед курганом проходили парады войнов, отдавая дань памяти русской доблести.
