Mayflies (Ephemeroptera) have one remarkable feature that is absent in all other insects - winged individuals can molt. The larva (nymph) of the last age molts and turns into a subimago. It can fly, but cannot reproduce. After some time (from several hours to several days), the subimago molts to the full adult form (imago) that can reproduce / У подёнок (Ephemeroptera) есть одна замечательная особенность, которая отсутствует у всех остальных насекомых — окрылившиеся особи могут линять. Личинка (нимфа) последнего возраста линяет и превращается в субимаго. Эти особи могут летать, но не могут размножаться. Через какое-то время (от нескольких часов до нескольких дней) субимаго линяет и превращается в имаго — взрослую особь, способную размножаться.
