Stump-tailed Macaque, monkey, Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, Arpan Saha

Watching over his Family...

Arpan Saha

English Name - Stump-tailed Macaque;
Conservation Status - Vulnerable;
Location - Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, Assam, India;
Description - The alpha male is guarding the group in the frontlines, watching for any lurking predators with its full attention while his big group of 50-60 are busy munching on anything and everything from the forest floor. While guarding, he steals a look for a couple of seconds to glance at the alpha female carrying their white coloured new born baby in her arms in a nearby branch.
Image Taken - We were super lucky to find this group within a few minutes of entering the park for the first time as it can be very difficult to track them because they moves constantly over a very large area of the forest. The whole group slowly emerged from the forest into the walking trails and after foraging for some time, they vanished again into the deep forest.
