Violet Sabrewing (Campylopterus hemileucurus) Ala de Sable Violáceo R

Colibrí grande, agresivo y espectacular de bosques perennifolios húmedos en montañas y laderas, migrando estacional y localmente hacia tierras bajas en el sureste de México. Se alimenta de flores en todos los niveles y a veces en el dosel en árboles a lado de caminos. Note el tamaño grande pico grueso y arqueado, y parches blancos grandes y resplandecientes en las puntas de la cola. El sorprendente plumaje púrpura del macho suele verse negruzco, pero cuando logra reflejar la luz… ¡wow!
