Great Sapphirewing (Pterophanes cyanopterus) Colibrí Aliazul, alizafiro grande o gran colibrí

Un colibrí enorme y espectacular. Los machos son esmeralda brillante con alas azules. Las hembras son verdosas arriba con las partes inferiores color canela. El pico es de longitud media y ligeramente curvado hacia arriba. Más grande que casi todos los demás colibríes y con aleteos más lentos en comparación a los de otros colibríes. Ocurre en bosques montanos y bordes en los Andes desde el norte de Colombia hasta Bolivia, típicamente desde alrededor de los 2,800 m hasta cerca de la línea de árboles. Visita comederos.
