Cobalt milkweed beetle

cobalt milkweed beetle, (Chrysochus cobaltinus), also called blue milkweed beetle, member of the insect subfamily Eumolpinae of the leaf beetle family Chrysomelidae (order Coleoptera). The milkweed beetle is a beautiful dark cobalt blue in colour. It is a close relative of, and a bit shorter than, the dogbane beetle, and it is found throughout the far western United States. The cobalt milkweed beetle feeds on dogbane plants.
