Ареал охватывает тропические дождевые леса Папуа — Новой Гвинеи, его прибрежные острова и полуостров Кейп-Йорк в Австралии. Населяет влажные леса от низменных районах до горных на высоте до 2000 метров над уровнем моря. Ведёт в основном древесный образ жизни. Длина 1,5 - 1,8 метра. Окраска взрослых особей салатово-зелёная с мелкими белыми или жёлтыми крапинками и бирюзовыми пятнами. Молодые окрашены в лимонно-жёлтый, оранжевый или бордово-красный цвет со светло-жёлтыми пятнами.
