Мегарисса жемчужная – редкий вид наездников, занесённый в Красную книгу. Длина тела мегариссы 4,5 сантиметра, а яйцеклада около 10-и! На снимке самка мегариссы сверлит берёзовый ствол длинным яйцекладом, чтобы отложить яйцо на личинку берёзового рогохвоста. Вылупившаяся личинка мегариссы будет кататься на рогохвосте, пока не съест его. За процессом «бурения» наблюдает чёрный муравей-древоточец.
