A pair of bluetits made – although a more appropriate term would be "pecked" – a nest in the insulation of my apartment building, more specifically, just under the balcony slab of the upper floor. Both of them, exercising every precaution, alternately fed the chicks. In order to mislead the predatory magpies and crows, they jumped from branch to branch several times before entering the alcove, either stopping for a moment or fidgeting restlessly. They were also trying to figure out what the large mammal with a telephoto lens was doing not far from their nest. I managed to take advantage of a few such moments and capture their titanic material-existential work.
