Село из русской сказки, одно из старейших поморских поселений Беломорья. На картах обозначается аж с 15 века! Когда-то здесь был крупный порт, куда заходили пароходы со всего Белого моря и даже Скандинавии. До сих пор в окрестностях, в устье одноимённой реки Ковды, можно найти на огромных камнях большие железные кольца для швартовки.
